the shabnam anarkali

a dusky baby blue silk, shot through with gold, so it shifts and catches light with every turn. the bodice is hand embroidered with a trailing floral vine in muted rose, ochre and indigo thread, gathered at the waist with a border of the same work repeated at the sleeves and hem. the silhouette falls into a full, cane-set flare, generous enough to move on its own, so the piece needs no bottom to complete it. a matching dupatta, bordered in the same floral trail, drapes long and unstructured.
