Gulabi is made in that tradition. Rose silk that shifts between blush and flame depending on the hour. A kurta scattered with sheesha flowers — each mirror hand-set, each catching a different fragment of the room. A hem bordered in antique gold fringe and rectangular mirrors, the kind found on the inner walls of Rajput havelis. The blouse is woven in the Banarasi tradition — gold square butis worked directly into the silk, not printed, not appliquéd. Woven. Each motif a small act of patience. The dupatta carries the same rose silk, edged in delicate gold lace — light enough to drape, luminous enough to be noticed. Worn with gold bangles stacked to the elbow, as women in Rajasthan have always worn them. This is not festive dressing.
